“I painted this watercolour thinking about those who have been deprived of one of the simplest and deepest joys — to see the clouds and feel the wind.
For me, the sky is both comfort and pain. It holds freedom, breath, space, and an endless variety of shapes and shades. But it also reminds me: in prison, beyond all kinds of suffering, the sky is absent.
This is one of the cruelest forms of captivity — to be cut off from light, from air, from the very human act of looking up.
The clouds in this painting are my personal prayer for freedom. My attempt to say to those behind bars: we remember you, we are near, and we are looking at the same sky. No force can forbid us from dreaming.
To me, clouds are a symbol of hope — and a reminder that everything passes.
No power can take away a person’s ability to dream.
This work is about a freedom you cannot touch — but that no one can take away.”
