Сегодня хотим рассказать о Марии Бонцлер - основательнице и бывшей руководительнице Комитета солдатских матерей Калининградской области.

С 2007 года ведет адвокатскую практику. Защищала участников протестных акций, в том числе антивоенных.

28 мая 2025 года у нее дома прошел обыск, после которого Бонцлер задержали по делу, возбужденному по статье о конфиденциальном сотрудничестве с иностранным государством, международной либо иностранной организацией.

Today we want to tell you about Maria Bontsler — the founder and former head of the Committee of Soldiers’ Mothers of the Kaliningrad Region.

Since 2007, she has been practicing law, defending participants of protest actions, including anti-war demonstrations.

On May 28, 2025, her home was searched, after which Bontsler was detained under a criminal case opened under the article on confidential cooperation with a foreign state, international, or foreign organization.

On the second page, you’ll find a QR code that you can scan to send Maria a letter of support.

We’re launching a new series in collaboration with @russianresistance.yyc, where we’ll be sharing important and unconventional books about Russia.

The first book in the series is "The Apartment: A Century of Russian History.”
It’s a moving tale of several generations of one Moscow family living in the same apartment for over a hundred years.

At first glance, it feels like a warm, almost childlike book — but in truth, it’s about all of us: our memory, our past, and in many ways, our present.

Nadine Geisler (Nadezhda Rossinskaya) sentenced to

Nadine Geisler (Nadezhda Rossinskaya) sentenced to 22 years for helping Ukrainian refugees.

Nadine, a volunteer from Russia’s Belgorod region, helped Ukrainian refugees and led the humanitarian group “Army of Beauties.”
In May 2023, she fled Russia after threats and the risk of arrest. When she returned from Georgia to see her family in February 2024, she was immediately detained.

Since her arrest:

She suffered a panic attack in a poorly ventilated cell.
She reported severe heart pain and difficulty breathing.
Authorities allegedly pressured her stepfather to force a false confession, threatening her and her family.

As part of the campaign #120pzk, artists from around the world are painting portraits of critically ill political prisoners.
This powerful initiative, launched by @peopleforfreerussia and @facesofrussianresistance , brings faces to the names — reminding us that behind every sentence is a human being with a story, a voice, and a right to freedom.

Today we share a portrait from the series: Nadezhda Rossinskaya, who was sentenced two days ago to 22 years for her volunteer work and courage.

Nadezhda’s case is politically motivated — part of a broader campaign of repression targeting volunteers and civic activists in Russia.

Иногда мы слышим от наших сторонников вопросы о том, зачем писать письма полит.заключенным и помогают ли эти письма самим узникам.

И сегодня мы хотим представить слово той, кто знает ответы на эти вопросы непонаслышке - Даше Козыревой, 2005 года рождения, которая сидит за решеткой потому что положила стихотворение Тараса Шевченко у его монумента в годовщину полномасштабного вторжения России в Украину.

В декабре 2022 года Козырева, еще будучи школьницей, была задержана за нанесение надписи «Убийцы, вы разбомбили его. Иуды» на инсталляцию «Два сердца», установленную в Петербурге в честь “побратимства” Мариуполя и Санкт-Петербурга. Активистку так же штрафовали за антивоенные посты в интернете и отчислили с первого курса медицинского факультета СПбГУ.

Пусть нить, которая связывает нас и тек кто остался и не молчит - превратится в мост.
Пишите им письма, чтобы путь этот был чуть более прям и чуть более прост.
Нельзя отворачиваться.
Нельзя привыкать.
Нельзя - и этого не отнять.

We’re often asked by our supporters: why write letters to political prisoners?
Do those letters really help?

Today, we want to give the floor to someone who knows the answer firsthand — Daria Kozyreva, born in 2005. She is currently behind bars for placing a leaflet with a Taras Shevchenko poem at his monument on the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Back in December 2022, while still in high school, Daria was detained for writing “Murderers, you bombed him. Traitors” on an installation called “Two Hearts,” created in St. Petersburg to celebrate the “sisterhood” of Mariupol and St. Petersburg. She was also fined for antiwar posts online and expelled from her first year at the medical faculty of St. Petersburg State University.

Let the thread between us become a bridge—strong enough to carry hope both ways.
We can’t look away.
We can’t get used to this.

Мы понимаем, что для многих

Мы понимаем, что для многих критика Дня Победы воспринимается болезненно — как будто ставится под сомнение сама память, наша гордость, уважение к старшему поколению.

Но важно сказать прямо: анализировать и задумываться — это не предательство. Это смелость. Только если честно оценивать прошлое, можно построить будущее, в котором:

Ни одна мать не теряет сына на войне,
Ни один солдат не гибнет за чужие амбиции,
И никакая правда не скрывается за военными парадами и салютами.

История — это не собственность Путина. Она принадлежит нам всем.

We know that for many in our communities, questioning Victory Day feels like questioning memory itself. Like an attack on pride, or even on our elders.

But let me say this clearly: remembrance and reflection are not betrayal. In fact, they are acts of courage. Only when we reckon with the past can we build a future where:

No mother loses her child to war.
No soldier is sent to die for empire.
And no truth is buried beneath flags and fire.

History belongs to all of us—not to Putin.
