A letter can make a real difference. A few words of support can bring strength, hope, and a reminder that someone is not forgotten. It is a simple but powerful act of solidarity.
Try Me For Treason (2026) is a 50-minute documentary and media project built around the courtroom speeches of Russian and Ukrainian anti-war protesters prosecuted for opposing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The film focuses on acts of defiance inside one of the most intimidating spaces of state power: the courtroom. It preserves these speeches as political testimony and as a human record, highlighting courage, resistance, and dignity in the face of repression.
The documentary also brings international attention to anti-war voices that are too often erased by censorship.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, thousands of people have been arrested for protesting against the war. Many appear in court, facing years of imprisonment. What do they say to the judges? What would any of us say? This 50-minute film, in English, features some of their speeches in court. The speeches are from the book Voices Against Putin’s War: protesters’ defiant speeches in Russian courts (Resistance books, 2025). You can buy a copy, or download a free PDF, via this page.
